The monkeys are not aggressive at Batu. Unless you are bringing food or irritating them, they will probably ignore you and let you pass. The monkey, because of its unpredictability and moodiness, has become a metaphor for the human mind. Note its portrayal in Journey to the West. Also see Hanuman in the Ramayana.
